Thelma V. Blake, Artist and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in field of visual art.

As a student, Ms. Blake studied at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida, where she earned an Associate of Arts in 1981. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in 1985 and a Master of Education from Tusculum College in 1997. Following her lifelong dream of sharing her knowledge with students and the public, Ms. Blake is a certified teacher in the state of Virginia, where she worked as an art teacher for the Washington County School Board from 1989 to 2011. She currently finds success as a professional artist, and serves as a gallery representative for Corner Gallery.

The winner of several art awards, Ms. Blake is inspired by nature and is greatly influenced by the work of Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí. Her work has been showcased in a variety of group shows such as, the University of Rhode Island Show, the Women Artists of the World National Tour, the 150 Works by Texas Women Artists Show, the Louisiana Society Arts Show, the Artists’ Colony Show in Homosassa, Florida, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe 90th Anniversary Exhibition, which was the highlight of her career. The recipient of an award from F&W Publications, Ms. Blake dedicates her free time to the Art Depots Association, the William King Regional Art Center Association, the Virginia Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in addition to other professional organizations. Furthermore, she has served as a valued juror for a number of art shows, including the 39th Annual Alpine Holiday Show, the Plantation Art Show, the Hernando County Art Show, the Beckley Art Group Spring Show, and the Fayette Country Art Fair.
