Ellary Ann Blair, Owner at Ellie Pots Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Pottery.
With hard work and self motivation, Ms. Blair has owned Ellie Pots since 2010, creating uniquely artistic vases, bowls, tiles, plates, and bottles using crystalline and raku pottery. Her studio offers pottery services and crystalline pottery workshops. Ms. Blair does not cast any pottery on tiles, and teaches a laborious but beautiful style that utilizes multiple glazes. She would like to be remembered as an energetic woman who loves to have her “hands in the mud”, though she has also been held high as a selected artist of the 2012 Orton Cone Box Show and an honored 2005 Upcoming New Artist of the Lattice Structures Symposium.
Ms. Blair holds a BFA in design from the University of Kansas, and started her first venture, Blair Pottery, in 2002, running until transitioning into her current business in 2010. She studied crystalline pottery with the Australian ceramicist Bill Powell, and was personally invited along with 24 other professionals to attend Mr. Powell’s workshop. Ms. Blair has also worked with the potters Ted Secombe, Fara Shinbo, and Jose Maria Mariscal. Before entering the world of pottery, Ms. Blair had a successful career in nurseries for three decades. She is a recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
