Joyce Wenglowski, Painter, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Fine Arts.
A New York area artist and frequent guest speaker in the field of fine arts, Ms. Wenglowski is particularly proud of having a permanent installation of her prints collected with the radiology department of Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. She is an abstractionist who uses attention to design and structural elements to create a sense of spirituality, with her preferred medium in acrylics. Ms. Wenglowski works from two studios in Katonah and Deer Isle, Maine, and has been shown across the Northeast, with significant contributions to collections in Pfizer Corp., Pepsico., Dynax Corporation, and Metro Media Fiber Network, as well as private collections ranging from 15 U.S. states to England and Italy.
Ms. Wenglowski has been featured in the pages of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. She was born to Harwin E. and Martha A. Richards in Rochester, New York, and studied with the Rochester Institute of Technology. She earned a BFA, cum laude, from Manhattanville College in 1980. Ms. Wenglowski initially taught painting with the YM&YWHA of Pleasantville, New York, and served as a designer of the art program at Waterview Hills Nursing Center. She owner the Joyce Wenglowski Gallery in Blue Hill, Maine, from 1996 to 1999, and was an artist-in-residence with the New Rochelle Day Nursery. She taught with the Roster-Westchester Arts Council for nine years, and was a visiting artist of the Empire State Partnership and Westchester Magnet Academy.
Collectors of Ms. Wenglowski’s art include the Toby and Leon Cooperman Collection, the Jason Moran Collection, and the Rayanne and Edvard Kleiner Collection. Among a number of civic roles, she has been president of the advisory board for the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association, and has taught everyone from private students to nursing home and daycare students. She is the recipient of a 2001 honor from the Katonah Museum Artists Association, a 1993 Making a Difference Award from the Westchester Arts Council, and a 1991 Distinguished Alumni in the Arts Award from Manhattanville College, among other awards.
