An alumna of Stephens College, Ms. Pillsbury Gredzens earned a BFA from the University of Santa Cruz in 1980 and later completed an MEd from Hamline University in 1995. She initially worked as a layout artist and substitute teacher in California, moving into elementary and secondary education. In 1997 she joined the Lake Superior School District #381 as a community educator and art teacher. While teaching, Ms. Pillsbury Gredzens found success in numerous exhibitions, from the Sally Brown Collaborative Art Exhibition in 1995 to the Duluth Art Institute in 2008. She is known for capturing Lake Superior in its many different moods, and attributes her success to her mentors, including the late George Morrison, Hazel Belvo, Elizabeth Erickson and Mary Pettis.

Ms. Pillsbury Gredzens is a member of the National Art Education Association, the Art Educators of Minnesota, and the Delta Phi Delta Dance Fraternity. She married David Inesis Gredzens in 1989 and had two beautiful children, Tabatha and Alex. She feels most “alive” when she is painting directly from nature, whether in the forest, on the lakeshore or in her garden. This is the “channel through which her life flows!” Ms. Pillsbury Gredzens has been featured in Who’s Who of American Women and the pages of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in the World.
